Samsung Leading tablet maker in India during 2012



Bangalore, 4 January 2012: Samsung became the top seller of tablets in India during the current quarter of 2012 by overtaking India's local manufacturer Micromax. Samsung held 23.9 % market share with the help of its Galaxy series of tablets where as Micromax secured 15.3 % market share with its Funbook series.

Surprisingly British-hardware manufacturer Datawind, which is also the maker of Indian government's low-cost tablet Aakash, became the third largest tablet seller. Datawind secured 12.3% market share without the help of Government's share of Aakash tablet, but riding with its  Ubislate series.

As per the report published by CyberMedia Research (CMR) India now has 135 vendors which have launched their Tablets till 3Q 2012.

The average value of tablets sold in India during this period was approximately Rs 13,200, while 63.5% of all sales were below the Rs 10,000-mark, the report said.
