Thrissur, 24 January 2014: International Film Festival of Thrissur IFFT 2014 will be held in Thrissur from May 6-12, 2014. Main Venues : K T Muhammed Smaraka Theatre, Kerala Sangeetha Academy, Jawahar Balabhavan. The festival will be also held in various venues all over the district which will include Thrissur town, Irinjalakuda, Chalakkudy, Wadakkancherry, Kattappana, Muvattupuzha, Ernakulam, University of Calicut, Payyannur, Trivandrum etc
The festival will be inaugurated by actress Sarada at KT Muhammed Memorial Theatre, Regional Theatre, Thrissur.
Bengali film Bakita Byaktigato directed by Pradipta Bhattacharyya is the inaugural film. Around 100 movies in categories like contemporary world cinema, contemporary Indian cinema will be exhibited in the 7 day festival.
This years festival is dedicated to the South African leader Nelson Mandela.
The festival is held in association with Thrissur Chalachitra Kendram, a film fraternity of Thrissur, Kerala State Film Development Corporation and the Federation of Film Societies of India.
The IFFT festival director for this year is Vidhyardhi Chatterji.
