The Government of Kerala has announced that it will launch a new lottery by name ' Mangalya Lottery' to assist the marriage of poor girls in the state. The Mangalya Lottery will function under the Mangalya Nidhi Scheme in which girls from families living below the poverty line as well as families with income of less than Rs. 1 lakh a year would be eligible for the one time marriage assistance of Rs. 30,000 from the Nidhi.
The lottery has been planned to raise the funding for the Mangalya Nidhi scheme which couldnt find its objective from the cess collected from Marriage halls in the state.
