Peechi - Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary Thrissur, Contact Number, Nature Camps, Accomodation

Peechi - Vazhani Wildlife sanctuary is located 30 kms east from the Thrissur town and is the second oldest sanctuary in Kerala. This sanctuary consisting of Palappilli- Nelliyampathi forests spreads over an area of Chimminy.The total area of the sanctuary is 125 Sq.km. The Sanctuary was formed by combining portion of Peechi, Pattikkad and Machad Range of Thrissur.

Peechi Dam, the main irrigation dam in the district forms a part of the sanctuary. The protected area of the sanctuarylies in the sides of NH 47 at Kuthiran near Pattikkad.



The best Time to visit Peechi Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary is from October to March. Visitors can avail accommodation facilities at the rest house, and the information centre.

One of the main attractions of the wildlife sanctuary is the Nature Camp for forest lovers, students and others. The camps can be conducted for the students of Government recognized Educational institutions and NGOs involved in environmental conservation.

Free accomodation and food will be provided for the 2-3 day camp consisting of 30-40 participants. Application and other information can be had from the Wold Life Warden or Chief Conservator of Forest.
