Thrissur, 17 July 2014: Nalambala Yathra, the great pilgrimage during the month of Karkidakam devoting to Lord Rama will begin today. The Nalambala Darshanam consist of visiting 4 temples in the districts of Thrissur and Ernakulam which includes Sreerama Temple at Triprayar, Koodalmanikyam Bharatha temple at Irinjalakuda, Lakshmana temple at Moozhikkulam in Ernakulam District and Payammel Sathrukhna temple near Irinjalakuda.
These four temples located within a radius of 35 kms becomes the ultimate destination of pilgrims who offer prayers to wash their sins in the temples on a single day. The ideal darshan includes Nirmalya darshan at Triprayar, Usha Pooja at Koodalmanikyam, Ucha Pooja at Moozhikkulam and Athazha Pooja at Payammal. The location and darshan timings of the temples are as follows
Triprayar Sreerama Temple, Tripayar
Triprayar Sree Rama temple is located adjacent to the NH 17 en route to Guruvayur from Kodungallur. It is also reached from Thrissur via Cherpu - Triprayar. Sree Rama temple is the first temple to visit as part of Nalambalam Pilgrimage. Darshan is possible from 3 am to 12.30 pm and 5 pm to 7.30 pm . Meenuttu and Vedi are important offerings in the temple.
Koodalmanikyam Temple, Irinjalakuda
Koodalmanikyam Temple devoted to Bharathan is the second temple to visit as a part of the Nalambala darshanam. Koothambalam is the speciality of this temple. It is located near Irinjalakuda, from Triprayar proceed in the Kodungallore route and divert from Edamuttam or Moonnupeedika. Darshan is possible from 4 am – 12 noon, and 5pm to 8pm. Thamaramala Brinjal Nivedyam, Vedi, Gheelamp are some of the important offerings
Sree Lakshmana Temple, Moozhikkulam
Moozhikkulam Lakshamana Temple is situated in Ernakulam District near to Annamanada Mahadeva temple. It is one of the 108 Vaishnava temples in India. It can be reached from Irinjalakuda through Vellangallur - Mala - Annamanada - Moozhikkulam. Darshan timings is from 5 am to 1 pm and 5pm to 8pm. Offerings include silk, palpayasam, turmeric powder, silver etc.
Shatrughna Temple, Payammal
Payammal Shatrughna temple is the last and smallest of the temples. It is located 8 km away from Irinjalakuda, 4 km away from Mathilakam. Important offering is Sudarshana Pushpanjali.
