Government Engineering College, Thrissur is one of the most prestigious institutions in Kerala. Started in 1957, it is the second oldest engineering college established in Kerala and the first engineering college to be established after the formation of Kerala state. The college is affiliated to the University of Calicut. GEC Thrissur has marched ahead and one of the most sought after technical education centre in Kerala. The campus is spread over an area of 120 acres (0.49 km2) and is located at Ramavarmapuram which is 5 km from the heart of Thrissur city and 6 km from Thrissur Railway station..
LiveMint (online news portal) has rated GECT among the top 50 government engineering colleges in India. Further, the college was awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification from the Indian Registry of Quality Systems in 2012
Courses Offered
Besides the regular B-Tech courses, college also offers a Post-graduate Course in Computer Applications (MCA), and Post graduate programmes in various subjects. Courses offered by college has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation.
