Anujath Sindhu Vinaylal from Thrissur won the first prize in the Clint Memorial International Painting Competition conducted by Kerala Tourism in memory of child prodigy Edmund Thomas Clint.
Irtiza Anika Haqe Probonti of Bangladesh came second, and the third prize was shared by Viara Pencheva of Bulgaria, Meenakshi Nair J from Kottayam and Meghna Unnikrishnan from Chennai.
Anujath who is a fourth standard student of Devamatha Public school became the winner from more than 5000 entrants. Anujath has also won various awards and prizes including best painter award in YMCA competition, and over 35 other prizes.
The Clint Memorial International Painting Competition for children in the age group of 4-15 was launched in January this year. The theme for the competiton was Kerala and the tourism department had provided e-books on the life of Clint and on Kerala for making participants familiar with the theme and competiton.
Jury members included renowned painter-journalist-writer and the Chairman of Kerala Lalit Kala Academy K A Francis, M L Johny, painter-writer Mimi Radhakrishnan, artist Anandamoy Banerjee and sculptor George Martin.
