Mrinalini Sarabhai Memorial National Choreography Festival

Thrissur, 20 January 2017:The 1st Mrinalini Sarabhai Memorial National Choreography Festival, organised by Hastha, a Thrissur-based cultural organisation, will line up four performances from different States for the Best Choreography and Best Choreographer Awards.

The three-day-long festival, to be held during January 19 - 21, 2017 at the K.T. Muhamed Regional Theatre, Thrissur will conclude with a performance by the celebrated danseuse Mallika Sarabhai, daughter of the late Mrinalini Sarabhai. Mallika will present two of her well-known compositions, 'Ganga,' and 'Aspirations,' for Darpana Academy of Performing Arts, Ahmedabad.

The All Kerala Choreography Competition for College Students, conducted as part of the festival, will be held from 10.30 a.m. - 3 p.m. during January 19 & 20.

On January 21, the last day, will be held the Mrinalini Sarabhai Memorial Lecture and Award Ceremony at 5 p.m., followed by the performance by Mallika Sarabhai.

The schedule of the performances are given below:

January 19
06.00 p.m.: 'Rajhansa: A Self Beyond Self,' (Rujuta Soman Cultural Academy, Pune)
07.30 p.m.: 'Act Without Words' (School of Drama and Music, Thrissur)

January 20
06.00 p.m.: The Transparent Trap (Dhyass, Pune)
07.30 p.m.: 'Bhima' (Our Theatre, Bangalore)
