Chalakudy Taluk formed

Thrissur, 25 January 2014: The Government has raised the status of Chalakudy to become the 69th Taluk and sixth in the state of Kerala.

The inauguration of Chalakudy Taluk will be done by Chief minister Oommen Chandy in a function to be held at 10 am today. The office of the Chalakudy Taluk will be functioning at the Corporation Town hall. The new Taluk is formed by bifurcating the existing Mukundapuram taluk.

The Chalakudy Taluk wil have 31 villages with an area of 37000 square hectares with a population of 4 lakhs.
