New Delhi, 24 January 2014: Maruti Suzuki has announced the launch of its much awaited small car Celerio. The company in a newspaper ad has opened the bookings for the model. The official launch of the Celerio will be held at Auto Expo 2014 which will begin on February 5, 2014.
The Celerio comes with EZ Drive, an automated manual transmission in the lower two variants LXI and VXI. The Celerio will be the first car from the Maruti stabel to offer the automated manual transmission option. The top variant will come with goodies like bluetooth audio, steering audio controls, airbag, ABS etc. The car also comes with a 235 liter boot space, dual tone interiors, indicators on door mirrors etc.
The engine is the same as the one on the Wagon R. It is an all-aluminium, 998cc, three-cylinder petrol engine that develops a max power output of 68PS at 6000rpm and a peak torque of 90Nm at 3500rpm. The car has returned a mileage of 23.1 kms as per the ARAI test.
The Celerio is a global replacement to the current A-Star (Alto in rest of the world).
