The festival sounds with the marchpast of a number of caparisoned elephant accompanied by the orchestration of Panchavadyam and Pandimelam, that thrills and heightened the excitement of the devotees to a rythmic dance.
The Pooram starts with seven days in advance,by Kodiyettam. It is the flag hoisting ceremony that marks the beginning of the festival.Then the Bhagavati ( the Goddess) visits the Desams and receives the offerings from the people.The offerings are in the form of Nirapara, flowers,jaggery, turmeric,fruits etc. A Velichapadu representing the Goddess blesses the people ad gives oracles on this occasion.
On the final day, Poorams from three different Desams, Enkakad, Kumaranellur and Wadakanchery converges infront of the Temple and line up for Koodiyezunallath.All the caparisoned elephants with the central one,bearing the Kolam of Bhagavati accompanied by Pandi Melam and fire works heightens the excitement of all the people assembled there.
